Ballard Estate, Ballard Way, Ballard Road, Ballard Lee, did not exist on the 1900s Ordnance Survey maps.

Ballard Estate was a recent creation, when during WWII a military base was set up there and the land so being known locally as Ballard was adopted.

Ballard Downs & Ballard Cliffs & Ballard Point were existing on early maps, Isaac Taylor 1765 & Treswells 1585 maps.

Ballard Down follows a path from the coast at Ballards Point continuing along a geological fault line and along the "Nine Barrows" all the way back to Corfe Castle.

Beli-Hardd ap Brochfael occupies a pivotal place in the history of southeast Wales and the Welsh Marches. Born around 1010, he was the son of Brochfael ap Arthfael, grandson of Arthfael ap Ithel, and great‑grandson of Ithel ap Owain — a four‑generation princely line preserved in the Book of Llandaff.

The Caerwent princely line preserved a deep ancestral memory linking their lineage to the pre‑Roman British nobility, particularly the Catuvellauni (sometimes rendered in medieval Welsh tradition as Cattaulavani) ancesters of Cassivellaunus ap Beli (Caswallen), the son's of Beli Maur.

Beli-Hard ap Brochwell mentioned in Doomsday as Beluard de Carvent

They were possessed of the Manor of Godlingston (later farm) & other manors locally, Carrants Court at Langton Matravers & other's in Somerset and Gloucestershire & Warwickshire. Godlingston Manor, directly facing the lands of Ballard out towards the sea, The Carrent family having in possetion some 200 plus acres in this area makes it very likely they owned the Ballard lands.

Up to this point, I have been unable to establish any historical data for this name Ballard associated with this place, I have found no Ballard's living here, I have to consider was this place named by the Carente family For their ancester "Beluard de Carven" the last, before they were removed out of Cearwent.
