We First find "Ballard's Court," documented in 1841, but could likely have existed much earlier, Being the property of those Ballard's, that once lived in that area.

The 1841 Census, record's that, "Ballard's Court" was, off, of, "Ann, Street" what later became known has "Great Ann, Street"

In 1938 it still existed being reffered to as "Ballard's cotts" (cottages) in Kelly's Directory of Bristol.

The property at Ballards court was later auctioned by the grandaughter of Wm Ballard, Cordwainer 1771-1828, a spinster who at her death her assets were claimed in probate by Joseph John Ballard of Holly Lodge (of later, Ballard close). [Bristol news paper].
