1309, Farndon, Will's de Maching - William de Maching called "Ballard" admitted & before the aforsaid Alderman 12s 6d. [Freedom of the City of London - Calendar of letter-books of the city of London: D: 1309-1314 (1902), pp. 44-65].

Farndon - The Place, On searching the first locations seems to be Farndon in Chester an area of Powis on the Welsh/English border on the river Dee. near Holt, Mealor and not far from Malpas, we also find there a place called "Mechain" the home of Hywell Fychan ap Hywel de Mechain who's patriline traces back through Ynry of Gwent  back to Macsen Wledig "Maximus, Emporer"). note; conincidence ? Mascen - Maching, Mechain, seem to have a similar etemology.

Burwardsley.  to the north is an interesting place name, Lords of which were Warin de Metz (de Burward) allied with the Peverals, Botterals and le Strange.  1251 records that " Griffin de Sutton son of son of Gervase Goch formerly alienated 2 virgates of his serjeantry at Sutton to Warin de Burwardeg. 

Burwardstone. recorded in Domesday close to Malpas home of Belward (note; could this name have been derived from "Belward's Town").
